Welcome to Spotlight. Our goal is to feature customers vehicles and shine a spotlight on their build. We are always excited to see where our products end up and how they are being used. Did you build a show car? A drift car? A time attack car? Is it bagged or static? You get to tell your story in the spotlight.

Today we are featuring Dong and his 1994 Mazda RX-7.

Seibon: What’s up Dong? Tell us a little about yourself and what you do for a living.

Dong: My name is Dong Park and I’m a Performance Driving Instructor.

Seibon: Can you give us the story on your car and why you bought it?

Dong: The FD RX7 has always been my dream car since it released when I was 16 years old. I always told myself “one day I will build an RX7.” It took me 26 years to get off my butt and finally build one but what gave me the kick start to do this is the crazy part. My wife and I did not plan to have any children and we took preventative measures to stay on course. We enjoyed our “Dink” life (Dual Income No Kids).

In March of 2017 we found out that my wife was pregnant. The wife and I didn’t find out until she was 6 months pregnant. Deep down, I just thought she was getting fat but of course I never told her that LOL. 3 months later my wife gave birth to our beautiful daughter. As a joke I suggested that we name her “Camber” My wife actually loved it and so did all my car friends and the name stuck (hence the license plate is CMB3RFD) The birth of my child motivated me to build a car dedicated to her. I figured knowing that raising a kid was expensive I needed to do it asap before money starts pouring into our kid.

Previously, I’ve always just bought new cars and modified them, but working on a full restoration of a classic car was always on the bucket list so I went out and found this RHD FD on Craigslist and the journey began. Of course I had to sell this notion to my wife and thankfully, she gave me the “Hall Pass” to proceed with the build.

The car will never be sold and will be given to my daughter when the time is right #Rotarygirl. When my buddy and I started the build, our vision was to build an FD in a manner where even a muscle car guy would respect the build. Nothing too flashy but nothing too basic either. A clean well thought out build where the effort and thought process shined without explanation. Hopefully we succeeded in the car community’s eyes.

Seibon: I’m sure your daughter will love it!  Any future plans or goals for the FD?

Dong: The only future plans that I really have for the build is either a peripheral or bridge port for that brap!

Seibon: Can’t go wrong with more brap! Is there anyone you’d like to mention or thank?

Dong: I would just like to thank all my sponsors (Dynasty Motorwerkz, Falken Tire, Impression Auto Salon, Garage Alpha, Rolloface, AG Wheels, and Led Tail Mods) and all my friends that helped with this build. I would like to give a special thanks to Rich from Falken Tire for believing in and trusting the build. Falken gave me a full sponsorship before they even saw the finished build. I also want to give a shout out to Brian from Impression Auto Salon for always protecting my cars and keeping them show car ready! And I want to give a very special thank you to Steve Rodgers of Dynasty Mortorwerkz. There is no way in hell this build would be where its at without him, You are the REAL MVP! And last but not least. I want to thank my beautiful wife and daughter for putting up with me during this build and allowing me to pursue my passion and build my dream!
